The Dark Side of Coaching: What No One Talks About

Have you ever felt skeptical about hiring a coach - like you’re not sure if they’re actually worth the investment, or if you can even trust them?

There’s so much skepticism and mistrust - fears that some self-proclaimed guru will lead you down the wrong path and drain you of your energy, your money, or both. And you know what? That’s completely valid. I’ve seen it firsthand - and I’ve experienced it myself.

So, what do we do with that?

Personally, I’ve taken my own missteps as lessons. Those moments when my intuition whispered “not this” - but I ignored it. I now see those moments as a teaching. If I had listened, I could have saved myself a lot of time, money, and stress. But now I have even more faith in my intuition, and I’m more equipped to make the right choice next time.

I believe most people are inherently good and won’t knowingly do harm unto others. Are there scammers out there? Yes. But there are also genuine coaches and healers who are truly here to help humanity. So how can you tell the difference?

Here are some signs of a coach with integrity:

  • They don’t use pushy sales tactics or pressure you to commit on the spot. They know that you are the only one who can make meaningful change - and if you’re not ready, it’s not about closing a sale; it’s about honoring your timing.

  • They don’t give advice outside their scope. If a coach starts offering mental health diagnoses, medical opinions, or financial advice without proper qualifications - that’s a major red flag.

  • They empower you to implement self development and spiritual tools yourself, rather than keeping you dependent on sessions. It’s about teaching you to fish, not just selling you fish forever.

  • They recognize when something is outside their area of expertise and refer you to the appropriate professional when needed.

  • After sessions, you feel more empowered, energized, or motivated - not drained, tense, or contracted.

Ultimately, the best foundation you can build is trust in yourself. Knowing your Human Design authority and understanding how your body speaks to you through intuition is key. You are your greatest guide - and the right coach will always support that, not bypass it.

For me, coaching is about deeply listening - truly getting to know my clients by hearing their stories and understanding how they see the world. Building trust and safety is essential. Without it, I can’t see the whole picture - and without the whole picture, I can’t truly help.

I coach because I love witnessing transformation. Watching people grow into happier, healthier versions of themselves is one of the most rewarding experiences there is.

If you’re curious but cautious - I get it. That’s why I offer a free 30-minute, no-pressure call. We’ll connect, explore where you are and where you want to go, and see if we’re a good fit. Either way, I’ll leave you with some valuable insight to reflect on.
